    Slavery was legal.
    Killing, when authorized, is legal.
    Torture is legal.
    Punishment, as opposed to simple restraint, is legal.
    Abuse is legal.
    Simple assault is a misdemeanor, meriting a reprimand and, perhaps, a crime.
    Invasion of privacy is legal.
    Children are property under the law.

    We organize governments to deliver services and prevent abuse.
