  •  I posit they are not scared. Why should they be? (7+ / 0-)

They own the government, no matter which flavor.  Fights and progress are relegated to social issues that have no impact on quarterly profits.  As both parties move more and more to the right, voting choices become even more meaningless in addition to heavy gerrymandering.

The 1% will never be scared -- until the inequality is such that there will be some kind of balancing.  It has always played out this way.

appalled at your ahistorical magic pony platitudes, expressed by many so-called "progressives" over the last 40 years. Mostly of the comfortable, white and, yes, male persuasion.

Everyday people must SUFFER MORE AND SUFFER MORE AGAIN for any meaningful change to happen, so there's no point in doing the hard, longterm work of talking to your neighbors to organize them to vote, with the aim of electing more and better Democrats, creating a real progressive majority in Congress, to push the government to better represent the interests of everyday people.

Business Roundtable says people need to work until they drop to "solve" the Social Security "problem"; people like you say only until "the inequality is such that there will be some kind of balancing" is there any hope for positive change. "It has always played out this way." ? It has? Again, Martin Luther King would disagree.

      •  Excuse me. And who exactly are you to be (6+ / 0-)

heaping shame on The Dead Man for voicing his/her frustration at the imbalance of power?  Contrary to your assumption, no where in that post did I see any suggestion that anyone should sit around and do nothing other than wait for things to become worse, not caring whether others are suffering in the meantime.  If there's any shame to be heaped here, I believe it would be on you for being so presumptious and judgmental toward a fellow kossack.
