  •  I'll take your word that SF is a sanctuary city (0+ / 0-)

The priority of which laws to enforce is up to the prosecutors, DA's and AG's, not the Sheriff or Police Chief.

Do you think it's right or wrong for Joe Arpiao to do what he does?

      And a bad example.

      no doubt about it.

In 1989, San Francisco passed the "City and County of Refuge" Ordinance (also known as the Sanctuary Ordinance) which prohibits City employees from helping Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) with immigration investigations or arrests unless such help is required by federal or state law or a warrant.
BTW: i think the priority of laws to enforce comes from the Sheriff based on his resources. The DA's and AGs decide which to prosecute. Of course they all work together.

Is it OK for a state entity--sheriff, or DA, or city council to declare theyre not going to enforce the federal law??
In this case the PC answer is yes. In other cases, no..

          I personallly think:........maybe. sometimes.

          •  In the case of not enforcing federal pot laws (0+ / 0-)

The people of the state have declared at the ballot box that they want more permissiive pot laws. Its now in state regulations

            Does that satisfy that criteria?
