  •  By speaking them plainly and unashamedly (27+ / 0-)

with no "on the one hand" and "on the other hand" stuff.

Unlike many I suppose, I always have thought that what a President says and how he says it matters greatly in the political discourse.

I do not understand how you compare it to his nomination speech(of this year though I think there are similarities to his 2008 nomination speech.) I think there is no comparison.

I tend to agree, I just didn't know what you meant by that.

The thematic orbit around a cohesive "community", in which no man is an island, as the fundamental aspect of improving American life rather than a focus on politically-oriented bipartisanship (no red states or blue states, only purple states) as the way to improve American life.

And then the structural aspects I referenced above were similar as well.

    •  I don't pay much attention to speeches like this (0+ / 0-)

It's actions where the rubber meets the road.  Let's see what his Organizing for Action does.  We may finally have a counter to the Koch brothers' AFP.

Clarkson and Beyonce were more inspirational with their fresh arrangements and talented voices -- both brought a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes.  But then their songs ended.

Even Democrats can be asses. Look at Rahm Emanuel.
