    it's kind of miraculous that MORE people aren't injured and killed by firearms in America.

    I know its not popular among gun owners, the majority of whom think they're all experts, but I truly believe that anyone who wants to carry a firearm of any sort needs to be certified as competent to do so, recertified periodically, and required to demonstrate safe storage and carrying habits.

    I simply don't understand how we can treat a tool with this sort of destructive and damaging power as casually as we do. We certainly didn't when I was in the military. And I certainly don't now. No responsible gun owner would. Clearly, there are is a vast amount of extremely irresponsible gun owners, and the body count is way to fucking high as a result.

    There needs to be restrictions and regulations.

    Almost 10 year old Daughter: "Boys are pretty good, but daughters have sentimental value." Me: "I don't think that phrase means what you think it does." Daughter: "None of them do, Mom. More's the pity. Words have to be flexible in today's world."
