    ....and winning millions of small ones helps extirpate racism, or at least mute it enough so that people will grudgingly do the right thing.

    On another Facebook feed, one of my former neighbors responded to an MLK day feed (including the story of a local  park that had segregated swimming pools - the "Colored" pool was closer to our street) by saying essentially that desegregation was a bad thing, since he was attacked by a group of black kids for going to the newly-desegregated pool, which they probably considered their turf.

    (This is also the same person who consistently posts the Greatest Hits of the Wingnutsphere to his feed, so he hasn't gotten over what happened 44 years ago.)

    Almost everyone reproached him for his comment.  He didn't take it down, but it got much criticism.  Granted, I think he's a lost cause, but you would NOT see that from someone in our generation (I'm 42, the wingnut is 60.)

    9-11 changed everything? Well, Katrina changed it back.
