    I suppose it was common back then, but later on people cared whether you sang live or not. But, hey, it was the 60's, it was Hullabaloo and all that groovy stuff. Never bothered me when I was a kid listening in my jammies in the living room!

      Even Ed Sullivan started doing canned stuff. There's several Mamas & Papas vids on Youtube doing live at the 1968 Monterey Pop Festival.
