  •  Very interesting and (10+ / 0-)

certainly worth a diary. Model procedures such as those used in Idaho will be handy over the next several years I think. And kudos to the good folks there for standing up to fascists.

As a civil engineering professional, I'd loooove to take a look at their technical proposal. If its fake or just window dressing its not that hard to tell. If its not then someone's got some real $$ behind it. Interesting either way.

I strongly suspect smoke and mirrors. Real, workable design on that scale is very, very expensive, and has the distinctive characteristic of being designed according to physical laws and well known fundamental civil engineering principals such as SRD (Shit Runs Downhill). I doubt their engineering numbers add up any better than any other RW myth-math.

    Caveat emptor infanti.

Just getting a handle on the knobs and dials.... Hey, don't touch that!

Free markets would be a great idea, if markets were actually free.

that's the relatively cheap and easy part. Infrastructure details like street widths, curb height, pipe sizes, manhole spacing, pavement sections, utilities layouts, grading quantities, erosion control, ratio of population density and usage types to sewage treatment capacity, bill of materials, etc., are the real deal. I'm betting they don't have a clue. And, if they do know these details, which is what it takes to make a realistic cost/price estimate, then somebody has laid out a fair pile of cash getting that far. One wonders who.
