  •  I drove through one of those in Texas a few months (15+ / 0-)

    ago. It was in central west Texas, and I was in the middle of nowhere. There were windmills in all directions at one point, as far as I could see. I stopped my car and rolled down the window. It was about 7:00 am, the wind was already blowing and I could hear those big blades going swoosh, swoosh, swoosh. There was no sign of human habitation in any direction. I drove on, and in a few miles I came upon a big metal building which turned out to be maintenance headquarters for the crews. The whole thing was very impressive.
