  •  There is not enough neodymium, or for that matter, (0+ / 0-)

enough space in the planetary atmosphere for the gas that backs wind up to make it a "major" player.

It is not clean, it is not sustainable, and the 50 years of cheering for it has not allowed one country that's throwing money down this rabbit hole able to phase out dangerous fossil fuels.

I wrote, in an indirect way, about the reality of another scheme that was supposed to make the transmission of wind energy cheap and affordable, the only drawback to the wonderful scheme being that it didn't work:

Research, Discovery, and Magical Thinking: Risking Humanity On Stuff That Actually Doesn't Work.

I've been writing here (uselessly, I confess) for nearly a decade, a decade in which 4 of the 5 worst years for increases in CO2 concentration increases in the atmosphere was observed.

The 2012 preliminary results are in:   It's the second worst year ever observed.

What precisely, has 50 years of wind and solar worship and cheering actually brought us, other than more wishful thinking?

The solar industry can't even support the servers dedicated to spreading the word on how great solar energy is, and probably, neither can wind energy.

Still we read these sorts of things.    The case is hopeless, and we will get what we deserve.

    Have a nice day tomorrow.
