    There's a hierarchy of needs that addresses the relative level of needs for people (Maslow?).  We need food to sustain us.  Energy is very valuable, but food is essential.  Not sure what you mean by crops that's different from food.

      But sad diary about fad crops getting too pricey for people who used to be able to afford to live on them. (the plant name I forgot)

      On the energy, I was thinking of curtailing the mountain top coal menace, shutting down all secret chemical stupid fracking, and confiscating every bit of murderous BP, and carefully or not at all allowing ocean oil drilling.

      Might be better to limit the size of the tankers and upgrade their safeguards and practices, too.

      I don't think starvation is good for people.
      In a way, all these ideas and issues converge in priority.
