  •  Dems in NJ need to put it to Christie again... (6+ / 0-)

and double dog dare him to veto it again.  Or have Buomo really run hard on it against Christie, on how he failed New Jersey on the civil rights issue of our time etc.

How he did what he was supposed to with Sandy, like anybody would have done - but he failed spectacularly when he vetoed the same sex marriage bill.

    •  The NJ legislature can still override Christie's (0+ / 0-)

veto: they have until the end of the current legislative session (beginning of next year) to do it, and if necessary they can try multiple times.

If RI and DE enact marriage equality early in the year, that should put some pressure on the NJ legislature to move: at that point NJ will be the only state completely in the "BosWash" megalopolitan area without marriage equality [1]. Since a very large number of people in that region live in one state and work in another, uniformity of laws is especially important there so people don't get temporarily divorced and remarried five or six times a week.

[1] Of course, Philly and NoVa are also part of BosWash, but PA and VA are going to be much tougher nuts to crack, with large populations outside the area.
