And since our 40+ yr old furnace finally croaked, we are on wood heat only. Now living in Northern CA - it's not as bad as the midwest. But it has been brass monkey, well digger azz cold the last 3 weeks. Two Sundays ago - the low was high 20's - at 11pm at night, I had that woodstove loaded to the gills and still lost 10 degrees in a little over an hour in the hallway. Stove is at one end of the house, hallway 1/2 way, it's 1600sq ft. Anyway, wood heat is filthy. Wood scrap crap going everywhere. Dust like ya wouldn't believe. Haven't lived until you have stepped on a wasp on the floor in the middle of the night 'coz you brought a couple of logs in, it's warm and the wasp is now active! And then there is the hot, cold, hot cold shit. I stay up late to make sure it's still burning. He gets up early to get it going again. bleah. We have pretty much decided to get a regulated pellet stove with a blower in the future. Along with a central heat,a/c unit as soon as we can afford it.

if a habitat is flooded, the improvement for target fishes increases by an infinite percentage...because a habitat suitability index that is even a tiny fraction of 1 is still infinitely higher than zero, which is the suitability of dry land to fishes.

...a modern wood-burning kitchen stove that will supplement the heating system in the winter. It's a Hearthstone Deva 100.
