Prices prior to deregulation = lower than the national average.

Prices after deregulation = higher than the national average.

"Competition" for electricity is a stupid concept.  It is a utility that fits the definition of "natural monopoly" and as such should be strictly regulated by neutral government agencies.

Free market policies have no place among utilities. Would anyone like to have 2 dozen water pipes running down the street so that "choice" of providers could be available?  What about the capital investment costs of producing such "choice?"   What about the massive inconvenience caused by 24 different pipes which could break and close a street, instead of just one?

What free market policies actually do is destroy electrical company workers' benefits and splinter responsibility so that no one is ever to blame for problems.
