  •  Well, the media, even some of (0+ / 0-)

the so called "liberal media" constantly have the need to preface anything they say about McGrumpy old man with "hero", served country with honor, as if that is some sort of unique thing.  It makes me ill because the fact is that there were zillions more nicer, more decent and honorable men, who served their countries and never got the financial or fame rewards give to McCain.

Seriously, my dad and three of his brothers, and two brothers-in-law served in WWII.   Two of them were held as POWs, one by the Germans, one by the Italians.   All served honorably and all came home and worked hard all their lives.  They got flags, two got license plates saying POW, and that's it.     Many in my family served honorably in Vietnam.

If John McCain had been treated like all others, (ie, not given special dispensations for screwing up in the same way W was given privileges), he never would have been a POW.  And there were many other POWs along with McCain and some (according to some reports) did not hold McCain in high regard long before he showed his lack of honesty and character in the public sphere of politics.

When I see/hear Matthews or any of the MSNBC folks drooling over McCain's service I simply change the channel.  Save the "hero" worshipping for the thousands of soldiers who did/do their duty, and go on to a life of hard work and honesty in serving their communities and families unlike McCain who is all about the money and fame.
