  •  Yes. And he does not make anything about it. (1+ / 0-)

(except the unfortunate Dem convention that year which seemed unlike him and may have goaded? the Reps to their swiftboating escapade)

Both men were getting old for the PResidency during their final runs. Both had long been in the Senate and had served their country in war.

Kerry lost to Bush by one state and there was a time period where his campaign thought they may have won (ie Ohio vote counting was irregular that year and voters were in line in a cold rain in the cities for many hrs as well). McCain lost in a much more definitive way.

Yet we can contrast Kerry and McCain's behavior afterwards. Kerry has thrown himself into his leadership role in the Senate and has done quite a bit of work behind the scenes for the Obama administration traveling to hot spots as an envoy. He didn't get a lot of credit. Because he REMAINS a patriot who is motivated primarily to do what he thinks is right for the country. He was able to get over his loss and his own ego. You didn't see the tiniest bit of bitterness.

McCain on the other hand...em·bar·rass·ing in how transparent his bitter feelings are.
