Been awhile since I've picked on you. Are you still my neighbor over there in Oompah Pretzel-land?

    •  Hi Werelynx! (4+ / 0-)

Actually, not for long. We're moving to Portland, ME at the end of March.

I haven't been around so much since I doubled my hours to save money for the move, which will cost me about 6000 Euro all told.

I cannot wait to be in Portland close to family and friends, and with my American degrees I will be able to earn a fair bit more than I can here. Germans are very uptight about where your university degree is from...

When I am working less for more money, and paying less for more space, I look forward to having more time for DK and real live ME politics. Win, win, win...

      Glad you're still out there!

So good to hear the news. Oh those lucky Maine based Kossacks to have you for a neighbor! You'll be able to stop by BiPM's place and borrow a cup of sugar... visit commonmass out on "The Rock" -- I'm getting envious!

The flight tickets alone are hugely expensive these days. Are you shipping any furniture or just the essentials? When I made the move over here I shipped my drawing table and about 20 medium sized boxes. Most of those were books. No idea how much it cost me anymore. Seems to me it was actually pretty cheap. I used SeaLand or some such shipping agent. Things were still a bit chaotic I think with customs and although I got called, after the stuff was already delivered, to go have a nice chat with the folks in the customs office I managed to avoid any extra fees.

Maybe they just weren't interested in my record collection.

Well, here's wishing you a hassle-free move. It'd be kinda cool though if we managed a meet-up before you leave.
