  •  No You Don't. We Were Saying This in 2009 Till (4+ / 0-)

the summer of 2010, when we realized that the Republican base was going to swarm the midterm for a census year midterm as the Democratic base had been neglected and was likely to stay home.

We're in a base-intense election cycle and the Republicans are mobilizing for 2014. Based on 2 years ago this could really pay off for them. The question is whether this last year indicates that Dems are going to be more motivational to counter the rightwing motivational program, and whether the tiny midterm voter block is anywhere near as turned off by the wingers as the Presidential general election voters are.

In 2010, the Republicans could run as the change agents, because they were shut out of power.  This time they won't be able to tap that anti-incumbent feeling nearly as much, because they are the incumbents.

The move to the much more partisan (I don't like it when commentators say "hard right" or "hard left" when what they really mean is "combative" or "intensely partisan") rhetoric was just beginning under the surface during the 2008 campaign.  I'm not so sure the no-compromise-on-anything- ever stance is going to be as much of a winner this time because that was predicated on holding off Obama until they could beat him in the next election.

My hope is that Democratic voters start realizing the importance of the non-Presidential elections.  My Congressman lost by a hair in 2006 and 2010, but won in 2008 and 2012.  I think the voters in my CD, at least, are waking up.  But I suppose we will find out for sure in about 22 months.

There is truth on all sides. The question is how much.

paint themselves as outsiders. Ann Wagner (R-MO)  is pretending to be clueless about how Washington works when she was co-chair of the RNC for four years. Expect another round of "We're so shocked at how dysfunctional Washington is under them liberals! Let us have some power so's we can fix it!"

But four years of House control will make it a harder sell.  If the confrontational approach continues, they will be the party of obstruction and low turnout will not trump the mood of the electorate.  A lot can happen between now and then, especially Republican behavior.  I don't think they can possibly continue along this path indefinitely.

          republic party.  They celebrate craziness.

And yet we talk to them as though they are sane.
          That's our problem.

Call them insane, sociopaths, mentally ill.  Let's get the conversation started.

They consistently advocate, vote for, cutting off health care for the sick, denying food to the hungry and sending the young and old to die for corporations.  Who wants to argue that is sane?  That's mentally ill.

Instead w/try to talk reasonable to them.  Maybe we're nuts.

People are starting to wake up to what Republicons actually are doing to the country.  What we need is for them to keep up the b.s. As an example, 4 years ago Obama lost Staten Island NY big time to McCain but this year he beat Romney.  Of course, Sandy was part of the reason but there are other factors also, like voters seeing what a Romney presidency would be like for them.  Unfortunately this didn't help defeat the Congressman (Michael Grimm NY-11) but we needed a strong candidate for that and this go round didn't have that.  Hopefully in 2014 we'll have that candidate.

Never be afraid to voice your opinion and fight for it . Corporations aren't people, they're Republicans (Rev Al Sharpton 10/7/2011)

but his statement does not in any way suggest the President committed treason. President's are accused all the time of acting in a manner that violates the Constitution. Treason is a very specific charge as outlined with clarity in the Constitution.
