pure and simple. We has sustained the most belligerent assholes for decades without any recourse civil or legal. it's time to pay the piper. This travesty of justice has gone on long enough.

HSBC can launder 60 Trillion dollars, 3/4ths the world's GDP without a scrape, yet a young kid downloads taxpayer paid documents and gets threatened with 50 years jail time, not to even mention young ones jailed for smoking a joint and their lives ruined.

I'm the first one to stick up for my country but when you lose me through this travesty of justice, i can't stand by a two level system of law...it isn't right, it isn't just and it isn't democracy.

It is a third world country with the powers of a first.

    •  no surprises, here's Glenn Greenwald's article (20+ / 0-)

What Obama justice officials did instead is exactly what they did in the face of high-level Bush era crimes of torture and warrantless eavesdropping: namely, acted to protect the most powerful factions in the society in the face of overwhelming evidence of serious criminality. Indeed, financial elites were not only vested with immunity for their fraud, but thrived as a result of it, even as ordinary Americans continue to suffer the effects of that crisis.
Worst of all, Obama justice officials both shielded and feted these Wall Street oligarchs (who, just by the way, overwhelmingly supported Obama's 2008 presidential campaign) as they simultaneously prosecuted and imprisoned powerless Americans for far more trivial transgressions. As Harvard law professor Larry Lessig put it two weeks ago when expressing anger over the DOJ's persecution of Aaron Swartz: "we live in a world where the architects of the financial crisis regularly dine at the White House." (Indeed, as "The Untouchables" put it: while no senior Wall Street executives have been prosecuted, "many small mortgage brokers, loan appraisers and even home buyers" have been).

he will return to law practice earning $1-2 million a year or more likely be a senior executive at a Wall St multinational bank at 5-10X what he would earn at a law firm.

our latter-day Blackbeard will inhabit, likely to the tune of $500K per annum each. The Dems might not have as much of a network as wingnut welfare, but there are some as profit mightily from wrongdoing, even on the D side of the political divide. It's who you know...

It's not very common for lawyers like Breuer to be on Fortune 500 boards and it's only the Fortune 500 that pays anything close to $500K a year to board members. They tend to go with operating executives or people with direct Wall St experience. He will end up at a law firm or an investment bank.

that the chance he will ever be called to account for all the damage done on his watch is akin to that of the proverbial snowball in hell.
