  •  The paralysis has been over past 4 years. (6+ / 0-)

So that's worth remembering, that the current republican party uses filibuster as a tool to paralyze government, applying a new goal to an old rule.

The old rule must be changed, I agree. At the same time, I have concerns about what republicans will do when they next have a Senate majority.

We cannot mistake absolutism for principle, or substitute spectacle for politics, or treat name-calling as reasoned debate. -Pres. Obama, 1/21/13

    •  Ha! Pubs didn't even need to change the rules. (4+ / 0-)

During the Bush admin, Dems just sat on their hands and did whatever the pubs wanted.   So sit there and be concerned all you want, but it matters not what the dems do.  The pubs will do what they want regardless.   This was the dems chance to do something.  They chose not to.  Pathetic.

The priest said, "Today's sermon is called 'Liars', but first I have a question. How many of you have read Chapter 66 in Matthew?" Nearly every hand went up. "You're just the group I need to speak to," the priest said. "There's no such chapter."
