  •  we read so much heavy life-alternering stuff (16+ / 0-)

many of us stay plugged into reality of our world and don't use the denial that less tuned in "low information" citizens have the comfort of using.

So I think we need a break once in a while. And then we are greatful for it.

I was just reading for example about the Republicans gerrymander House districts being put forward as a way to allocate electoral votes in Presidential elections. I find the idea so very upsetting and threatening...it shows really SHOWS that what we all thought about the current Republican party (that they put party before country) IS TRUE.
they are proposing a method of nonviolent coup d'etat. And hundreds of them, including Governors of three states, are considering it or are "intregued"

So very  heavy. So I clicked here for some lightness. Because all this other stuff is so very grave.

    •  I had the same reaction -- Rachel Maddow has (7+ / 0-)

been covering this. When I listen to her podcast each morning, I have to pause the podcast and get up and walk around because it upsets me so much.
The fact that the Republicans are scheming to take the country away from the majority of voters is disturbing beyond belief.

but we push through in order to pay attention because too much is at stake.

Now what to we DO to push back against this?!

Rachel Maddow is doing great work for her country in spotlighting this debacle.

I am so very dissapointed in my fellow Americans in the Republican Party who would even consider the prospect of a gerrymandered distribution of electoral college votes.

How dare they try to make our elections unfair? Do we not stand for justice? Is it because what they do is legal? Should it be? Ask questions, ream the daylights out of the issue, make it public, make people vomit at the injustice--even Republicans, make them disown the dirty fighting tactics of their party.

Make the GOP back down from the people's anger, not just 'disapproval'.

            and wide
article in Wash Post today (with lame title and lacking the SALIENT fact that the districts the Republicans want to use to allocate electoral votes in Presidential electon are GERRYMANDERED districts--they just did it. No word on Why That Is So Very Wrong)

            for either party

MA has gerrymandered districts too. For Dems. If we were going to then allocate electoral votes by them I'd also be up  in arms because IT IS WRONG> The majority party in state government if dominant enough can alter those districts (as they have in Va, MI, OH, WI, etc and in MA) therefore is given control over PRESIDENTIAL elections but the people did not elect them to do that.
            It is wrong.
