  •  Where's the /snark tag? Ridiculous (21+ / 0-)

All this was was a confirmation that any and all money given to the DSCC and in turn the DCCC was a waste and that our priorities mean nothing to them. 60 votes was a lie.

And to answer your dismissal argument referencing Jeff Merkley and Ton Udall is weak. I give Jeff Merkley and Tom Udall credit for trying, but there is a speak no evil atmosphere in Washington. There are no more Eugene McCarthy to call Senate leadership a failure. All Merkley and Udall can do is try and they knew it was unlikely as it failed before so basically to hold them up as inoculation against this is one big failure so that proves NOTHING. Senator Jeff Merkley tried to gain support and tried to make Dodd Frank have a true Volcker rule too but it didn't because Barney Frank was determined to kill it and he did along with Chris Dodd. There were feel good posts like this one about the watered down version then oops, the London whale incident happened.

So a handful of progressive Senators are window dressing for this  and basically trapped in a glass box because Harry Reid cannot control his caucus like LBJ could; a real Democratic majority leader. And after these Senate wins this is more insulting and you want us to be happy because you're throwing food in the box? You need to really research qualitative vs quantitative. If there is no quality legislation it doesn't solve the problem and this won't stop filibusters at all on anything life changing.

Wow. This shows disdain for the public. Good luck on those future fundraising emails. We know nothing is going to happen now.

    •  So tired of us being played for chumps. (8+ / 0-)

The party is quickly losing relevance. It's embarassing

about registering to vote, I most often hear despair that there is no longer any difference between the Democrats and Republicans, so why vote. It is the likes of Harry Reid and the neo-liberals (1993 Republicans) that are perpetuating this meme with failures like this.

Harry Reid is the worst Democratic majority leader in the last 40 years when I started following politics.

The parties are different but when the Democrats refuse to go to the mat for core issues, or even TRY sometimes, the result is the same. Rightward, always rightward. And some of the dailykos FPers are starting to come off as enablers. For the last few months, this issue has been hyped relentlessly on this site. They've asked us to sign petitions, contact our senators, and then when Harry pulls this shit, we're supposed to act like we accomplished something real and didn't just screw up any chance of getting any decent legislation from the Senate? Why? Because they deigned to pretend to give a shit about an issue this important to us? Is that all we're settling for?

I don't pretend to know what the answer is, but we need some accountability in this party. We don't have to go full teabagger to demand our elected officials stand up for us.
