    is too blurry for me to make out, but is that the little blue star-flowers that bloom in very early spring (they're blooming everywhere here in Richmond; it was 65 degrees today)?

      purple flowers, but next to were the tiny blue flowers of speedwell. Both bloom about the same time.

        and LOL.  I've planted Veronica five different times and never gotten a thing out of it . . . . I had no idea that the common weed I loved was a variety!  I'm just going to dig up some that's blooming in the yard of this apartment complex, and transplant it up to the mountains where it can bloom for me in February.   It would be the perfect addition to the Living Roof I'm trying to create.
