    ...Revolutionary War battles were fought. They were face-to-face affairs. The exceptions were skirmishes fought "Indian" style, or, if you prefer, guerrilla warfare style. The ability to stand and fight against British regulars was proven once and for all in 1778 at the Battle of Monmouth.
