  •  I kinda like the new system proposed by the (0+ / 0-)

Repubs - heck, in 2012 that probably would have meant Dem control of the house . . ..  you know, since the Obama team's vast organizing power would have been devoted to swing districts rather than swing states.

    •  Gerrymandering is designed to eliminate... (0+ / 0-)

      ...swing districts.

Don't tell me what you believe, show me what you do and I will tell you what you believe.

      •  But it's playing with fire insofar (0+ / 0-)

as who is doing the gerrymandering seeks to win a lot of seats with a small margin - that strategy can totally backfire if effort was put into defeating it.

the problem is that virtually no (OK, a very small fraction - maybe 10%) of House seats are actually contested.

In theory this system would put all of the house seats into play (in reality that wouldn't be the case - but the %age * would * be up dramatically from what is currently the case).  To me, that'd be a good (and winnable!) scenario.

... we'd STILL have a Rethug House, but we'd have Romney in the White House.  They did their Gerrymandering VERY well!

OF COURSE the New Right is wrong - but that doesn't make WRONG the new RIGHT!

      •  None of that is relevant (0+ / 0-)

because the Obama team is a master at playing by whatever rules are in place at a given time.

And since this system wasn't if place, of course they'd lose - for fuck's sake, they didn't play that game.
