  •  It took a women to craft this legislation (15+ / 0-)

All of the men opposed to abortions exceptions for rape and incest don't even believe it is possible to get pregnant that way.

Coming up with laws that oppose all abortion is bad enough. But it takes a true monster to single out those women and write a law that specifically forbids only them from having an abortion.

She needs to go. I just checked and her District is no lock for her. Its a tiny District but she only won over her Democratic opponent in 2010 by 337 votes. Inexplicably she ran unopposed in 2012. I'm betting that changes in 2014.

    •  I HOPE it changes. (6+ / 0-)

I was so very angry when I read the HuffPo article. Wasn't Brown just SO cute and clever, claiming that the products of conception specifically from rape or incest (often excepted from forced-birth legislation) must now be retained, ie, carried for nearly a year, as EVIDENCE of the crime.

The pure evil and vicious intent of the bill is mind-boggling. One can only hope that it doesn't pass in ANY form.

      •  It won't get out of committee. (2+ / 0-)

If it does, it won't get a hearing in House Judiciary, the second committee to which it is assigned.  My Rep., Gail Chasey, is a member of House Consumer and Public Affairs, and the chair of Judiciary.  She's one of the most liberal legislators in NM.  She bottled up DOMA bills for years.  Don't worry, Rep. Brown is playing to her wingnut base in rural southern NM.  The bill is DOA.

        President Barack Hussein Obama!!
