sesquipedalian, & second, according to merriam-webster on-line, it means "a word with many syllables."

do you have an alternate definition b/c i couldn't find one.

    •  Couldn't figure out if that meant horses riding (1+ / 0-)

on 150 jockeys or some freaky group of 150 Episcopaleans--maybe ones with lots of feet or footsie going on, with their clever quips and puns.

This sesquipedalian word is precipitating some odd memories...oh, my....aching feet...no, wet feet...yes, shocking as it is.

Look. These are tough flashbacks for me...I've had some well-meaning Episcopalean friends but they had some kinky ways, they were all dog people--each had some of those slurpy 4 footed yappy critters.  There was this thing with footsie that never got beyond washing a few toes....oh, wait, that could be oversharing, and I'm supposed to work on not oversharing...ok, then, that's it. This just goes to group.

OMG! Just look at those toes.  I just have to schedule a pedicure for these gnarly looking feet.  They'll certainly change the color of the water...where did I put the files and that belt-sander?  Ok, breathing slow again...and that was decades ago...they've surely moved on. Maybe I'm on my way to another break through, yeah, that's it...

I was just goofing on the fact that I wasn't familiar with the word.  In the process of trying to figure it out, at one point I thought, "Okay, sesqui means 150... and let's see... ped means... feet?  Legs?  Words with 150 legs?  That can't be right."

The "derp" was me being dumb, not you.  I'm not sure it was clear.  Sorry about that!

      •  :D i do that, too! i meant to ask what the derp (0+ / 0-)

thing was but forgot.  i thought it was some kind of acronym like iokiyar.  is it some new slang?

in case you haven't figured it out yet, i'm not groovy anymore ~~~

        •  Derp is an internet slang thing (0+ / 0-)

Funny, I tend not to use internet slang here, or anywhere else for that matter.  I'm boring and middle aged, and I either know better or have no interest in using it anyway.  But I thought "derp" fit perfectly, given that for a moment I was seriously picturing words with legs as if it were possible, and then had to stop myself.  It's the noise an idiot would make.

And of course, the one time I use any kind of internet slang, it's in response to someone who isn't familiar with the term.  Which, in itself, would be a derp moment, if I were inclined to use the term again -- but I'm not sure I am.  Past a certain age, it just doesn't seem to work.

(These kids today, with their derp and their pants...)
