    We're landlords. This is unacceptable. Get them out of there and with some landlords who will treat them with respect.
    I don't actually know this, but I suspect that a subtext here is that the people in question can't afford to pay market rents in places that aren't dumps. The landlord is certainly legally required to maintain the place, but your rent may be somewhat cheaper with a negligent landlord than otherwise.

      We keep our rents very, very, very low because we want people to move in and STAY--turnover is expensive and annoying. They're old units and stuff is always needing replacement and care, but we try to work as fast as we can when there's an issue.
