  •  We had a brief moment of media (12+ / 0-)

intelligence while TV execs were fighting being called a vast wasteland.  We've always had a few outliers telling the truth in the midst of large propaganda outlets.  I'd say we're far better now than in the past.  The internet has changed things.

It also pays to remember that we've always swung between extremes fiscally, the 1% has always used media and government to solidify their power, and the people have always fought their way back.

If you want to win this round start a business, support local businesses, use a credit union, install solar panels and a rainwater catchment system.  Avoid big box shopping.  Find a farmer's market and shop there.  Xeriscape.  Join a co-op.  cancel your Cable provider.  Subscribe to Mother Jones.  Bring your friends with you, show them how.  Unionize.  Tell people unions are their best hope, explain why.

Join your local Dem party and run for school boards, water commissions, town councils.  Stop looking for perfect candidates and get the ones your area will support elected.  Accept that it may take many cycles to get a really Progressive person elected.

Talk to every woman you know about equal pay, violence, the fact that we couldn't vote 90 years ago and Republicans prefer that we don't vote now.

We stopped Citizens United by being citizens, united.  We're not victims we're citizens with the power to change things.  Wailing and gnashing teeth are piss poor responses.  Getting angry and taking action works.

I'm not looking for a love that will lift me up and carry me away. A love that will stroll alongside and make a few amusing comments will suffice.
