Being a parent is a wonderful, joyful, terrifying experience.

...and you're right it's not for everyone.

However I would recommend to anyone considering to forgo the experience to make absolute sure that it is the correct decision.  You don't want to live with regrets - now and in autumn and winter of your life.

You have but one life to live and raising a family has rewards beyond description.  As a parent I know that it would have been much more selfishly gratifying if I had chosen lifelong bachelorhood, but ultimately I know I would not have had this level of joy and a peaceful sense of self that fatherhood and family had brought me.

Then again, having a family is not the only way a person can find purpose.  Only you know what that is and how to find it for yourself.  Nobody but you can ultimately judge if in fact there is a truth to your purpose and the proof is in the serenity of the mind that you experience in seeking and fulfilling that truth and purpose.

I believe that the best I could wish for a person is a quiet mind that comes from the truth and purpose of self-actualization.

Married relatively late in life -- I was 32, Mr. Scribe was 35. Because we didn't have to worry about looking after children (especially teens) we were able to concentrate on caring for our aging parents as they needed more of our help, and it gave Mr. Scribe the freedom to retire when he reached 55 so he could concentrate more of his time and energy on helping his mother after his father's death in 2010.

I've always done better with older children -- once they're able to talk and tell me what's bugging them. I get along quite well with my older nieces, nephews and great-nieces...when it comes to the younger set, I enjoy playing with them but am very happy to hand them back over to Mommy or Daddy when they get tired or hungry or cranky. And I'm messed up enough by my own growing up issues (I have a major case of abandonment issues from my father's death when I was 11) that I wouldn't want to pass on those fears to the next generation.

Say we all define our own purpose - and from such things there infinite possibilities.

We are only inhibited by our own reach of awareness.

It's pretty clear that anti-feminism is, at its core, motivated by economic concerns.

Employers enjoy getting a built-in discount as a result of gender.  Although that tide is receding, it still is present and those that benefit will not allow it to completely fade without fighting in it's death throes.

These men, under the pretense of Christian values, are vile manipulators who use the speech of bullies.

They paint successful women who are beautiful as vulgar bitch emasculators who want to gain power and dominate men.

They paint the ones who are not beautiful (or ones that might have a poor self view) as hateful, bitter shrews angry from their rejection and failure.

Any woman seeking equal pay for equal work is playing the victim card from a "patriarchal society" and are nothing but "selfish, narcissistic, family-destroying whores".

This the kind of hateful abusive language that men have been using for just about ever to brow-beat and control women.

So instead of the living room and the kitchen - this garbage is spewed over the RWNJ media airwaves.

It completely comes off to me as the kind of sick twisted bullshit a woman would hear in an abusive relationship.

What really sickens me about it is these two fucking assholes make the claim that somehow, by putting forward these ideas, they are following the example set by Jesus Christ.  Just horrific.
