      for the compliment, Riverofthe West (and which river might that be, I might ask)? As I said to another diarist, I freely liberate some pics from the web and some of my own. But never copyrighted and private stuff. Just generic, but often editing same (to my own taste). See you on today's hiking tour, I'm thinking. (Of Arches, I mean. . .a sequel to this diary).

        Great River of the West! The Columbia, of course. Jonathan Carver mentioned the Great River in 1778, calling it the "Ouregan." Part of that whole Northwest Passage thing.
