I live west of the Caprock and north of the Permian Basin.... we're about due another tornado, here. Lubbock is the "ground zero" for the very first recorded F-5.

    •  Damn. I find myself grieving for Texas, and I've (11+ / 0-)

never even lived there.  I have good friends who live there and grew up there, so I've seen parts of the state with loving guides.

ANd I'm sad for the people of New Jersey; and thinking about the wetlands and magnificent bird sanctuaries at Bombay Hook (Deleware) and Cape May (New Jersey).  They escaped the worst damage this time, but there will be others.

Those of us who love the land are going to do a lot of greiving in the years ahead.

But you're right that parts of New Orleans should not have been rebuilt/be rebuilt.  And Governor Cuomo has done the right thing, and politically a brave thing, by starting to tell people the truth.

Like beach babe said, the UK has been talking about this for a while and making some decisions.  We need to get moving.  Sandy really is a turning point.
