but could someone explain what does a barrel shroud has  to do with gun violence?

    •  I quite deliberately express no opinion (0+ / 0-)

on the relative merits of Sen. Feinstein's bill, and especially the effectiveness of the particulars. What I'm addressing, I hope, and I apologize if it's not clearly expressed enough, is the way individual state legislators, particularly here in Arizona, attempt to circumvent federal legislation through state laws they know must fall to the Supremacy Clause.

Their peculiar view of "states rights" was resolved nearly 150 years ago, to their detriment, yet they persist in passing laws and then pursuing them in fruitless court cases at great tax payer expense.

I don't know whether Carl Seel gives a rat's behind about firearms one way or another, but his supporters do and it's a convenient thumb in the eye of the rest of us.

The odds are that he's only grand standing for his base.

with the Second Amendment...making the Arizona State Guard appear to be a "well regulated militia".  For what it's worth.

is to set up an apparent constitutional conflict between some vague 2nd Amendment notion and the Supremacy Clause (see below).

"Vague" primarily because a "militia" that has no actual members, no funding, and no mission is hardly "well regulated." This statute would apply to persons "eligible" for a not quite existent militia.

effer any way you cut it.  didn't mean to imply your endorsement or opposition, you clearly posed the factual particulars.  sorry for picking the low hanging fruit.
