when I was in NYC last year. New York has done a lot of great stuff over the last few years, I was amazed at all the bike lanes and public parks for example, but definitely shocked at all the garbage and non-existing recycling bins, not to mention composing bins. I hope it's on the agenda. Bloomberg is an ambitious guy, so I hope he'll take this on. Or maybe he already has and it's in the works.

last year of last term.  I can only guess why there was virtually no effort during his 12 years to get folks to recycle and cut down on waste; that is when you cut down on waste you spend less money.

When I became big on recycling and not taking plastic bags I also found myself conscious of how much waste I was making; that in turn made me start thinking of how much money I was spending and cutting back.

Thank you so much for this diary and all you do.   I watch the Newshour most evenings but must have missed it the night of your segment.    I'm going to watch it right now.
