    I wonder what will happen there, especially considering that a lot of people have to cut back on expenses and can't afford vacations.  Maybe there is another way -- more affordable getaways. Or maybe the economy will come back sooner than expected. I've never been to the Catskills at all, or not as far as I remember.

      Most of these old resorts catered to an older generation of Jewish vacationers.  It wasn't the economy so much as changing recreational tastes that led to their decline.  Younger Jews went elsewhere, and when air travel became affordable, New Yorkers did the same.

      It's fascinating to see how quickly nature is retaking some of these places.  It's like that book "The World Without Us."

      Built in 1925 at a cost of $3 million, it closed in 1980.  30 years later, nature is reclaiming it.
