don't think the internet helps.  I was watching Bill Maher's show a few months ago, and I don't remember which guest said it, but someone said that every town has always had a crank, but the cranks used to think they were the only ones.  Now they know there are cranks in other towns who think just like them.

Also, to your second point, I find it interesting how people were all up in arms when the Dixie Chicks said they were ashamed of Bush, and they got death threats, banned, etc., but apparently everyone's cool with what Ted Nugent says.

    •  You mean RWNJ's are OK with Nugent (0+ / 0-)

There seems to be a lot of people who think he's full of crap (literally and figuratively)...

Yeah, the Dixie Chick's treatment is such a clear double standard.  I friended the band on FB even though I'm not particularly fond of country music, but they need support in light of the current political climate IMO.

      •  No, not just RWNJ's. (0+ / 0-)

I'm not saying it's different in that most people agree with what Nugent said.  I agree that most people think he's full of shit.

I meant "cool with it" in that there's not the same outcry when people like him say these things.  We're not hearing about death threats toward him, he's not being banned from anywhere.

So clearly we as a society consider his statements more acceptable.
