We had an interim pastor a few years back who announced from the pulpit that some people in the congregation weren't Christians.

I got steamed and walked out of the service.  Hung around and griped afterwards--got a lot of support.  I hear the Pastor got told off good at the next session meeting--and he stayed pretty quiet for the rest of his time.

BTW, the only actual politics we now hear from the pulpit are things like
*Participate in the Joint Religious Day on the Hill to lobby legislators for better housing, medical care, etc.
*Write a letter to your congressman in support of Bread For the World.
Not that politics don't come up after worship during coffee occasionally, but....

we are NOT racist or sexist.
Three lesbian couples raising their babies with us.  Half of a gay couple sings in the choir.

One soprano was for many years the only consistent black person in our congregation (we have a regular native american, also, and we've had temporary black or mixed families).  But bless this lady, she has stuck with us for nearly 30 years--and now that her nephew is pastor of an AME congregation (which meets Sunday afternoon at a church near my home), the two congregations periodically trade choir visits.

Last Sunday, Pastor Bill gave our sermon, and a the Lily of the Valley church pianist and ensemble group sang.  Other times, our choir goes there for something special they are doing.

Minnesota's a long way from Florida, though.  If you are shopping Presbyterian, look for a More Light church.
