  •  It's a BLUFF, not a "flip flop" (5+ / 0-)

and a pretty transparent one, at that.

Ryan and the Republicans have no intention of allowing the military cuts.  They are hoping Obama gets frightened enough by their proclamations that he will "make a deal."  And with his weak track record, it's worth a shot on Ryan's part.

They simply have ZERO leverage with the sequester UNLESS you actually believe they're willing to let it go forward.

We have to hope that Obama either doesn't believe it, or doesn't use the charade to make another of he patented "compromises."

Because if he dusts off chained CPI again, in order to "save our national defense from ruinous cuts," Ryan and the Republicans will have won with a pair of deuces against our full house.

I can't believe ANYBODY is buying the BS that the Republicans would allow the sequester to happen.

    •  I think you're right that he is bluffing. (2+ / 0-)

hoping the Obama team takes the bait.

It would be interesting to know whether it was his personal idea to try this bluff tactic, or some other "genius" in the Repub caucus.  But it's really all they got.

    •  The kidnappers are threatening us with a gun (3+ / 0-)

that isn't loaded. This is just like the "fiscal cliff". Wall St. wouid not allow the Republicans to default on the debt, and the military industrial complex will not allow the sequester. Call their bluff, and watch them sweat.

You ever notice that everyone who believes in creationism looks really unevolved? Eyes real close together, big furry hands and feet. "I believe God created me in one day." Yeah, looks like he rushed it.- Bill Hicks
