  •  Wonderful tribute to Mike. (13+ / 0-)

Yes, they do mourn. We lost Mr Bean a year ago and when he was in his last days the other 3 were very attentive to him. Once he was gone they all mourned separtely chosing not to huddle but find their own spots. Maya our female that was closest to Mr Bean has become more aloof as she prefers to hang alone. Occasionally she will join us on the bed but not often.

It is so hard to say goodbye to them as they become such a part of the family. It does not seem right without them.

Take care and thank you for giving a home to the needy.

    •  Was Mr. Bean named after the Rowan Atkinson (10+ / 0-)

character?  He always described Bean as a ten-year-old boy in an adult's body.

All of ours are sticking close to Ben or me. He slept pn the sofabed with her for the last three nights because I couldn't get any rest, worrying about her, and the nasty antibiotics I am on left me nauseated and dizzy and headachy. I couldn't bear the thought of waking up to cold little body. But the cats divided their time between her and Ben and me in the bedroom.

The last time we mixed religion and politics people got burned at the stake.

      •  Well, not quite. (10+ / 0-)

Mr. Bean and his twin brother came to us via a neighbor that brought them home for his kids to play with but did not feed them. He claimed "in the country they catch their own food". Well we lived in Denver not exactly country. They found their way to our doorstep begging for food. Anyway, they were dumpster divers and one day Mr Bean jumped over the fence with a burrito in his mouth so hence became Mr. Bean. We of course had adopted them, set up a place for them to shelter in our garage, fed them and took them to the vet. I guess bad habits are hard to shake. The funny thing we had him until he was 20 and he became a very fussy, picky eater. We used to tease him and tell him you used to eat out of the dumpster but now you are picky?
