To all you stupid restaurant owners:

Raise your menu prices 15¢ an item (that will cover the cost of providing insurance, a liveable wage, and paid sick leave for all your employees) and then ADVERTISE WHY YOUR PRICES INCREASED.  Tell the customer you are charging more so your employees will be healthy when they touch the food the customer eats.

Your business will increase because we customers like the thought that we won't catch a cold, the flu, hepatitis, or some other communicable disease from your sick, stressed employees when we eat at your establishment. ... we customers win because happy employees make tastier food and healthy employees make safer food.

I'd gladly pay an extra 15¢ for that!

Otherwise known as what should be the new PR policy of the food industry -- "no, I really don't want to get hepatitis just because owners are too cheap to keep their workers from infecting my food".

Actually, it'd be great if restaurants (and related businesses like grocery stores, etc) that do provide health care for their employees should start advertising that -- a LOT. Now that these cheapskates have made it into a national issue, this would be the perfect time for them to get some strong customer loyalty that will probably last for quite a while because it's just too sickening to think of the alternative:

Eat here at Healthy Joe's, or go to another restaurant where ptomaine and tuberculosis are On the Menu!

You know how I can tell that corporations and the rich can pay higher taxes? Because they can afford to buy politicians ... MinistryOfTruth
