        openly(in sheath, on the waist) then you are ok. No restrictions on bats as far as I know.

          Of course I would never do so...I tend to be a confrontation-avoider. It would be an interesting sociological experiment to wander around my local Wal-Mart brandishing an aluminum bat. Anyways...Peace Out.

          Penal Code section 12020(a) makes it a felony to carry a "dirk or dagger" concealed on your person.

          A knife, no matter how big, carried on a sheath on your belt (if not covered by a jacket or shirt) is not concealed and is not against the law.

          So theoretically, a Scotsman could carry a sheathed broadsword, but not a dirk (irrespective of what kind of other weapons might be under his kilt).
