  •  Here's hoping (10+ / 0-)

that the court gets sick of this and starts just throwing people in jail. If nothing else, I would think they should be able to grab a number of people for contempt of court.

    •  This 3 judge panel has put up with a lot (5+ / 0-)

They've even allowed the GOP to keep nearly all of their gerrymandered districts (and we saw how bad they were in the last election) despite all the shenanigans, including ignoring court orders and an over $17,000 fine.  In spite of all of that, they keep giving Republicans a lot more slack than is believable.

They want the case to just go away, but the plaintiffs aren't letting it go - particularly as new documents keep being found that were withheld.  Even so, the judges continue to want to turn a blind eye to all of it.

      •  hey puddytat ...any possibility (7+ / 0-)

that the judges might rule these districts void because of the lack of documents to verify the legality of it all.   Bascially cut off the GOP nose to spite the face.  In response the court redraws the districts over the legislature due to the misconduct toward the court.   Hope this makes sense

I can't force you to do anything, I can just make you regret it!

        •  That's definitely what I'm hoping for (6+ / 0-)

The judges just keep turning their blind eye to all of this.  The GOP should have lost this case over their secret, Republican-only redistricting shenanigans which were rammed through the Legislature without even maps!  They should have doubly lost it when they withheld documents.

But the judges just let them keep it.  I can't figure out why.

        •  Doubt it, but not completely out of the question (2+ / 0-)

However, if the courts do throw out the map, either a least-change (from the post-2000 Census maps, in which the congressional map was a compromise map supported by Tammy Baldwin and Paul Ryan, and the state legislative maps were court-drawn) or a communities-of-interest map would be what the courts would draw.
