    Beautiful phrase.  Ties us all together and let's us be proud of who we are and where we came from.

      that she finally felt proud to be an American.  She got criticized for that too.  But when I hear a speech like this, when the President speaks so eloquently about breaking down those barriers between "us" and "them", and when I think about an America that is not divided on race or ethnicity or any of those other ways we always find to divide ourselves, yea, I start to feel a little pride in who we are.  Our strength and the one thing that truly sets us apart is that we are the one nation on earth that looks more and more like all the people on earth.  That's a damn powerful thing.  

      Progress on LGBT civil rights... and now progress on immigration reform.  If this happens, people won't be talking about Obama as the "Democrat's Reagan", they'll be talking about him as our Lincoln.
