We just don't happen to agree with it. In their minds, the 2nd Amendment allows them to have assault rifles to protect them from the government. That is why it is an answer. It is a stupid answer, but still an answer.

    •  Again, you claim to know what is in their minds. (4+ / 0-)

They didn't answer his question on why they needed such weapons. So, not, they were not "correcting the record."

      That's a stupid statement.

    •  No, it's not an answer. (2+ / 0-)

Lawrence O'Donnell just had a segment on this very issue and stated "It was not an answer". His analogy was someone being asked why they smoke and responding, "Because I can buy cigarrettes". That doesn't answer the "why".

      •  Doesn't have to be the right answer (0+ / 0-)

Just because the answer is not valid does not mean is is not an answer.

And, to the 2nd amendment absolutists, the purpose of the amendment is to protect themselves from the government, which means you need the maximum amount of firepower possible.

So within that way of thinking, it is a valid answer.

There is truth on all sides. The question is how much.
