    And BadKitties, I feel your loss. My ethical dad died in 1999. He could sense corruption in the stock market and was extremely vexed about it. The conversations we could have had during the Bush `administration' made me long for his take.

      I'm sorry for your loss. It really is a loss, isn't it? The loss of someone who loved you unconditionally, and with whom you could speak about anything?

        He was political. A Republican. Raised three left-wingers, in spite of his beliefs.

        There were times I would howl for him during the W years. It was painful and selfish that I didn't have his overview. I felt his loss deeply just when I'd `awakened' to politics. He would have been amazed at that, and we could have such ranging discussions.

        Yeah, the mom's loss is sadder than mine, but she voted Obama after my reading how her party was behaving over the years.
