for continuing to teach through compassion. I had a couple of thoughts about why this man's "defense" seems kind of questionable, to be generous. Not being able to perceive a car backing out or pulling in seems to be contradicted by  the well-aimed shot from his firearm, which didn't seem to suggest he misperceived what his target was. This sounds too much like the George Zimmerman defense (and his family's/legal team's image manufacture to generate sympathy for someone who decides that killing another human being is a reasonable form of human interaction). Zimmerman was also painted as a community-minded, even heroic individual, as if that somehow mitigates one's decision to shoot an innocent fellow-citizen. I think lots of the delusion that leads some folks to actually engage in totally unwarranted vigilante acts originates from irresponsibility. Irresponsible public policy pursued by profiteers who fear-monger and tout "individual rights" to fear, hate, and devalue the lives of others and to bear arms for the coming war between "Good and Evil," as opposed to reason-based support for universal health care (including mental) and equitable education that would erode the mistrust and fear that seems to justify calls for that irresponsible public policy. Seems like a very vicious cycle. I also believe that if such a "war" were to exist, those people who see themselves representing the "Good" actually have it ass-backwards.
