  •  they're betting people will say "no new debt" (5+ / 0-)
The Republicans don't seem to understand that they are both boring and infuriating us simultaneously by forcing us to relive these crises month after freaking month
They're hoping that constant crisis raises awareness of government spending and debt in the minds of average voters, and paired with conservative moralizing, will trigger a groundswell of public opinion against said spending and debt.  The public will vote in hordes of good hardass conservative Republicans who'll pass "common sense" legislation that restricts spending to equal revenues ... and who will steadily cut revenues.  First shift the tax burden to the middle class and poor, then sell them on lower taxes period.  It goes without saying that printing money is not an option for them.

Something's wrong when the bad guys are the utopian ones.

to the banksters to keep their houses of cards afloat and allow them to balance their books at public expense - like loan them free money and then allow them to buy bonds and charge US for using the money we lent them in the first place. Sweet deal. It would have revved up the economy more if the Fed had simply made the same deal for every American household and let us get OUR debt under control in the same fashion.
