    way to gain entry into the country. However, it's a bit of a crapshoot considering you have to live in a country that is eligible and it is of course a 'lottery'. Processing after 'winning' the lottery normally takes around 6-12 months though it can certainly be longer depending on your country of origin.

    Typically, the lucky duckies who are selected in the lottery are representative of the quickest immigration process available.

    Of course being selected for the lottery doesn't automatically gain you a green card. Medical, criminal and other factors must first be verified by your friendly State Department staff before a green card is issued to you. Although, green cards are also automatically extended to any spouse and dependent children as well.
