  •  One is enough, isn't it? Is it possible to have (0+ / 0-)

an "acceptable level" of home invasions?

    •  I am unaware of the statistics for home invasions (3+ / 0-)

and that is why I asked.  If you are not aware of any statistics of such then fine.  Since you might be asking me why I am curious, I will answer that.  I am curious about any issue that gets used as a pretext for an action.  So that I may consider whether that action is appropriate in my view.  I will neither dismiss nor support the notion that more weapons are needed if I don't even understand the scope of the issue.

this a public health issue where realative risk is the factor to consider.

If armed breaking and entering leading to fatality were sufficiently common to represent a greater risk to life and limb than the present largesse of guns AND increasing the amount of guns would reduce death by B&E more than it would increase the rate of death by gunbug moran, then there would be a very strong argument against increased controls.

In the real world, this is not the case. It's more like vaccination. We no dot (or should not) allow invincible idiots to leave their children unvaccinated because doing so increases the level of peril for them and for everyone else.

following your logic, apparantly the position of 2nd Amendment Absolutism is that any number of mass shootings, even of schools, is justifiable by the theorecticaly need to stop even one home invasion.

      •  No my 2A rights to protect myself is just as valid (0+ / 0-)

as the need to go after those who abuse their rights and harm people.

Home invasions, robberies, forcible rapes, muggings, assaults with deadly weapons and the like are by no means rare and actually occur in much, much greater numbers than mass murder.

If you really go research the data....you might see that the numbers speak for themselves....and people who live in many areas of high crime, might decide for themselves to use the right granted them.
