    I'm not too sure about the homogenized population part.

    I used to live in Rose Park and West Valley; so maybe I perceive Utah as being more diverse than it really is.

    Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think that our crime rate has gone up as Utah has become more diverse?

      The link given shows that Utah enjoyed a steep drop in homicides in 2012 in a pattern of stable homicide rates.

      than the rest of the state, but still if you think about religion and culture more than race we are one of the more homogenized states in the country.

      Still, the bulk of the state's population is in the Wasatch Ft. mostly metro area, so even the city vs rural thing is kind of turned on it's head.

      Diversity in Utah on racial lines has been all good, IMO. I don't see it as a factor in crime, but have no stats to show other than that link I found and posted.
